Vampire Academy Series 5: Spirit Bound

Spirit Bound is the fifth book in the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead. After a long and heartbreaking journey to Dimitri's birthplace in Siberia, Rose Hathaway has finally returned to St. Vladimir's and to her best friend, Lissa. It is nearly graduation, and the girls can't wait for their real lives beyond the Academy's iron gates to begin. But Rose's heart still aches for Dimitri, and she knows he's out there, somewhere. However, she has to first focus on passing her trials to become a guardian and hope it will be enough for her to get assigned to Lissa. Then she can work on a plan to save Dimitri, even though her information may be based on a lie and the plan may endanger her life and Lissa's.

Vampire Academy Series 6: Last Sacrifice

Rose is in prison after being framed for Queen Tatiana's murder. She is then broken out of prison with the help of her dad Abe along with Lissa, Christian, and Adrian's help. She is given to Dimitri to keep her safe while they find out who did kill the queen. After Dimitri and her catch up with Sydney and go to West Virginia where they are supposed to stay and wait until Rose's friends at court find the real killer. Rose, however, wants to help and after a few escape plans finally convinces Dimitri and Sydney to help her look for Lissa's illegitimate sibling. All three of them go on adventures and are helped at the end by Robert and Victor whom Rose despises but finds useful. Rose also converts Sonya back into a moroi and she helps them find Lissa's sibling, who turns out to be Jill. Meanwhile, Lissa runs for queen to stall the elections and create chaos to give herself and her friends more time to find the true killer of Tatiana. Rose also realizes that even though she is happy with Adrian she still deeply loves Dimitri and Dimitri realizes that he has to let go of his past and enjoy life and love...

Mead's absorbing, debut YA novel, the first in a new series, blends intricately detailed fantasy with a contemporary setting, teen-relevant issues, and a diverse, if sometimes sterotyped, cast of supporting characters. Occasional steamy sex and a scattering of vulgar language demand mature readers, but teens able to handle the edgy elements will speed through this vamp story and anticipate the next installment.

Vampire Academy Series 3: Shadow Kiss

A little background... I am in my mid 20's and a high school teacher who loves to read when I can but doesn't get much time to do it in. I picked up the twilight series a year ago at a students request and was pleasantly surprised. Once the series was finished I needed another one! Before Twilight I had not been into teen romance/ fantasy books especially with vampires and such. I saw a book-list of recommendations by Twilight followers and picked up the "House of Night" series by PC Cast. This was worth reading and I am waiting for the next book to come. My husband now calls me addicted to Vamps since I started looking for a new series to pick up. I was strongly recommended to pick up the Vampire Academy series by my 20 year old sister who has always been a fan of this genre of books.

Vampire Academy Series 4: Blood Promise

The heart of the story focuses on the hero Rose Hathaway's journey to fulfill the promise she made to herself and Dimitri. During this journey, Rose finds herself in situations she would never have imagined--mob-like characters whose intentions are ambiguous, other aspects of Moroi life she was not privvy to, along with her first encounter with a dhampir commune, meeting other dhampirs with a vendetta like her, and finally, her heart stopping confrontation with Dimitri. No spoilers will be given, for that would take away at the amazing story Mead has created, but rest assured, you have seen absolutely nothing yet.

The novel was a mind-blowing experience full of amazing adventures and action that showed no signs of letting up at any point during the reading. Richelle Mead's writing has grown more sophisticated and despite the dark setting is full of humor and will make you race through the pages, leaving yourself blinking at the last page wondering where all the time went.
